When choosing a dog that will join your family, you should choose one that will fit into your family’s lifestyle. If you end up with a wrong kind of dog it can lead to you being unable to take good care of it, or even handle it, and your dog might end up in a shelter while you’d probably be disappointed and crushed for having to give up your friend.
Similarly as in human interpersonal relationships, human and a dog have to match in some way in order to achieve a certain level of harmony and functionality in the household. If you cannot spend much time exercising your dog, choose a low-maintenance breed that doesn’t need much exercise in order to be happy. Here are some of such breeds.
1. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
This breed of dog simply loves cuddling with its humans and spending time in their laps and on soft pillows. Although it has more athletic instinct than you might have thought and it can run really fast, it doesn’t really need much exercise. A few daily walks and the ability to run around the house or in your yard will keep this dog happy and healthy.
You don’t need to worry about your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel chasing other dogs or cats, as it is a pretty shy breed. However, this dog also doesn’t like to be left alone for too long, and if it is it usually becomes destructive, chews on furniture or barks constantly. If you are out of the house for most of the day, maybe it would be a good idea to get it a companion (another pet – the same dog breed would be perfect).
