Many people would love having a dog in their home, but they simply don’t enough space for a large dog, and let’s face it – most of them grow into somewhat large dogs. Small dogs are great if you live in an apartment or a rather small house. A small dog doesn’t necessarily have a small personality – most of them are tough and strong as much as the larger dogs. They love playing and being active just the same and they’re equally great as family pets. If you’re looking to get a small dog, here are some of the smallest dog breeds out there.
1. Brussels Griffon
This dog breed has a look that is in between amazingly cute and a little scary. It has very expressive eyes, placed right beside its nose, and even though it is small, it is not a classic lap dog. It was originally bred to hunt and kill rats, but today it is commonly a part of human families. The Brussels Griffon has a great personality – it is very cheerful and playful as well as affectionate towards its human family – which makes it a great companion.
However, it can get pretty demanding and stubborn, which can cause difficulties to softies. As they are small and active in the house, they are great apartment dogs, but you should train it to prevent barking at every noise it hears. This breed isn’t for just anyone, mainly because it isn’t independent and it requires time commitment and they can live up to 15 years.
